RSSSF (the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation) is a volunteer-run archive widely regarded as one of the most complete free football statistics databases on the internet, covering league tables, cup results, and historical records dating back to the 1800s. It was founded in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer Usenet newsgroup — Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans — originally as the "North European" RSSSF before growing into a global project with contributors from around the world. The archive has since spawned several regional spin-off projects that track individual countries' leagues in even greater detail.
